Following our completion of Erdington LC in September 2017, Stechford Leisure Centre is the second leisure centre to be opened as part of Birmingham City Councils £40m investment programme.
The £9m centre has replaced the old Stechford Cascades facility in east Birmingham. The new centre provides the community with a state-of-the-art gym including all the latest cardio resistance kit and dedicated free weights area, a 25m pool and separate dedicated teaching pool, a varied group exercise programme, and 4 court sports hall with modern changing facilities throughout.
B+W were responsible for the design, supply, install and commissioning of the filtration systems for both the 25m main pool and 13m x 7m learner pool.
The centre is owned by Birmingham City Council and operated by Birmingham Community Leisure Trust (BCLT).
Ahead of the opening on 9th January 2018, BCLT chair, Brian Taylor, said: “We look forward to welcoming residents throughout the community to a fabulous, modern building which will encourage young and old to choose healthy lifestyles and have fun too!”
We were delighted to work once again alongside main contractors ISG and Calderpeel Architects and look forward to the completion of the third leisure centre in this investment programme – Northfield Leisure Centre.
