Barr+Wray are delighted to have been awarded the contract to carry out extensive remedial works at Woodford Leisure Centre. The £6m refurbishment will include the a new 25m, 6 lane main pool, with the introduction of a 13m x 7m learner pool, new sauna and steam facilities, improved changing rooms, a new café and a better car park.
Working alongside Hobson & Porter as the main contractors, B+W will be responsible for the filtration water treatment systems for both pools. These systems will benefit from medium rate sand filtration, chlorine for disinfection, pH control and UV sterilisation.
The council is also investing in environmental technologies within the new centre to reduce long-term operating costs by running more efficient heating and lighting systems. Set to open early 2018, the council says it promises to be a "top-class" venue and will be one of the best in the region.
